In the enterprise
The hexagram of rules, budgets, risk controls and moderation: budgeting, compliance and internal-control design, KPI systems, time management, self-discipline. 'Sweet' versus 'galling' limitation is the core of institutional design: good rules are followed willingly.
Psychological lens
Resonates with internalisation in self-determination theory and ego-depletion research; 'galling limitation' produces psychological reactance (Brehm).
